Barbara Ann Mortensen


Barbara Mortensen (Kuschel), 48, of De Pere, passed away April 6, 2009 after living with cancer for six years. Barb, the second daughter born to Omar and Jeanne Kuschel, on February 17, 1961, came as a surprise to her parents. She quickly earned the nicknames, Barbie Boo and Little White Tornado, for her blonde hair and energetic personality.

On June 22, 1984, she married Alan Mortensen of Green Bay. They resided in the Columbus/Beaver Dam area for 23 years before moving back to De Pere 3 years ago. Barb and Al had four beautiful daughters, whom Barb enjoyed raising as a full-time mom.

Family and friends were always Barb’s priority. She enjoyed family times up at the cottage on Big Lake near Gresham, where swimming, boat rides, good food, and birthday parties were shared with her loved ones. She also looked forward to her monthly ‘girl’s night out’ with her friends from high school.

Barb will always be remembered for her brave, yet positive attitude in dealing with cancer. Her laugh and wonderful outlook on life was contagious. She will be missed by all who knew her, especially her family.
